Before I ever became a veterinarian, I had Sam—a beautiful, devoted Doberman who was by my side through so much of life. When she developed hip dysplasia and later mammary cancer, I had to make one of the hardest decisions any pet owner ever faces: saying goodbye.

I was an adult, but I felt completely unprepared and utterly alone. The process was clinical, rushed, and devoid of the compassion I so desperately needed. No one walked me through what to expect. No one acknowledged the emotional weight of the decision. I left that experience with a quiet vow in my heart: My clients will never feel this way.

That moment became the turning point. I went on to earn my doctorate in veterinary medicine with a mission—to guide pet owners with the empathy, clarity, and support I never received.
